• Good English communication skills in both written and verbal
• Engineering fundamentals: statics, strength of materials, material science

• Basic design skills: tolerances analysis, design for assembly (DFA), design for manufacturing (DFM), simple fixture design, understanding of Statistical Process Controls (SPC), understanding of metrology (basic knowledge of measurement systems)

The role will require the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with demanding schedule requirements across a large cross functional team. A proven ability to deliver solid design solutions while balancing multiple priorities is key. Experience in closely working with suppliers is important as well. Be very comfortable with applying scientific method and being able to apply or create the process through which you can solve complex problems.

What to Expect The Role As a Software Development & Integration Intern on the Battery Management System (BMS) Team, you will have the opportunity to accelerate the delivery of quality Tesla products to consumer markets. You will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing firmware on high voltage systems. Your effort to create and improve battery management functions will have a direct impact on the reliability and convenience of the Tesla products as well as the customer experience. The Tesla battery team is extremely focused on the quality of users’ indicators (i.e. range, SOC, power, etc.) which directly plays into the overall experience and safety of the system as a whole. The team strives to create robust, efficient firmware and your responsibility is to ensure the code quality extremely high. You will also play an important role in our future technologies roadmap, including firmware support on different platforms and new products (packs, cells, etc) and those techs may also lead the whole industry to a new epic. What You'll Do Responsibilities • Develop, debug, and test software in C/C++ or other languages (e.g., Python, Java) for high voltage system applications. • Design, implement and test cutting-edge algorithms according to different standards for run-time control system. • Develop multiple systems interaction functions for new power features. • Participate in code reviews and troubleshooting sessions to ensure reliability and safety. • Document software design, implementation, and testing processes. • Develop Software-in-the-Loop infrastructure in a object-oriented fashion, making high degree of re-use of existing objects and objects that are highly reusable. • Follow safety protocols and industry standards for electrical systems. The Role We are hiring Electrical Powertrain Engineering Intern for our R&D team. You will support test activities on powertrain products from component to system level for Tesla new product development, such as drive inverter, motor and drive unit system. We are interested in students with majors of motor and power inverter engineering. Including but not limited to mechanical engineering, electrical engineering. A minimum 6 months staying with us is preferred Responsibilities • Support engineers to execute test tasks and maintain test documentation. • Support Test setup, interference with equipment like power supply, chambers, benches. • Develop inhouse/custom test equipment, like fixture, harness and so on. • Collaborate with design, quality and manufacturing to manage test programs from concept to final commissioning. • Support lab operation to maintain schedules, allocation of test resources. • Support failure investigation in post phases. • Write test software to automate test execution, data process and analyze.
