• Ensure products continuously comply with Amazon's quality, performance, reliability, as well as industry safety and regulatory requirements worldwide • Drive manufacturing excellence through data-driven approaches to identify quality trends, predict potential issues, and implement preventive measures across supplier networks • Manage and coach suppliers to improve quality management system, manufacturing processes and customer satisfaction • Design and operate scalable quality management programs, develop best-in-class processes and systems, and drive continual improvement across different business models • Communicate technical, quality, and process requirements effectively to non-technical stakeholders through data visualization and analytical insights
We are hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of quality for mechanical and electromechanical commodities — including speakers, antennas, cables, connectors, and motors — across a supplier base spanning Mainland China, Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines, supporting product lines such as Amazon Echo smart speakers, Project Leo satellite broadband terminals, Kindle e-readers, and Fire tablets. This role focuses on four core areas of work: - New Product Introduction (NPI): Lead new supplier qualification audits, partner with Hardware and Signal-Integrity Design on DFM/DFA reviews, develop manufacturing processes (stamping, plating, injection, crimping, extrusion), drive PPAP management, and validate process capability (Cpk/Ppk), high-speed signal integrity, and reliability test— owning every quality gate before next milestone - Mass Production: production audit, monitor SPC data (crimp force, plating thickness, impedance) and identify abnormal trends early; drive continuous-improvement projects (DMAIC) to reduce DPPM and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ); manage supplier 5M1E changes and quality-impact assessment of ECN/PCN — especially raw-material substitution - Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Final Assembly Test & Pack (FATP) IQC teams, US headquarters Hardware R&D / SI Engineers, Asia Sourcing, Reliability, Compliance, and Finance to drive bidirectional optimization between design and process; establish IQC standards, SCAR routing, and escalation paths - Field Issue Resolution & Crisis Response: Respond rapidly to line-down events, ship-holds, and customer field issues — driving containment, root-cause analysis, and 8D closure, including the complex non-reproducible, multi-impacting-factor defect escapes; plan ahead for predictable disruptions such as Spring Festival, typhoon season, and tariff volatility

The Role: The SQE is responsible for NPI and Sustaining Quality at suppliers for parts, components and sub-assemblies throughout their lifecycles. The ideal candidate owns managing several high priority activities including production yield reviews, lead and facilitate resolutions for issues at IQC, IPQC, OBA, OQC, ORT and customer complaints, conduct regular line audits, develop and facilitate DOEs, coordinate and manage cosmetic limit samples selections, develop presentations and reports, interact and provide direction to suppliers, as well as work closely with PQEs and CMs to analyze and resolve issues between manufacturing partners and suppliers. In addition, the position will own facilitating and executing the part/component validation, performance and reliability test executions, and ensure process effectiveness and compliance between the suppliers, contract manufacturers and eero operations. What you'll do: - Be the primary quality representative for supplier quality activities - Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) to make sure samples comply with drawings and specifications prior to production start or after any changes - Own implementation, validation and continuous monitoring of supplier’s IQC, IPQC and OQC to ensure proper process FMEA, quality control plans, SOPs, SIPs, operator/inspector training, equipment and documentation are implemented and followed - Determine strategies for continuous improvement in supplier quality and supply chain metrics. - Manage supplier's corrective actions system (investigation, documentation and implementation of corrective action and the verification of their effectiveness) - Conduct supplier audits including new supplier selection and regular process/product audits to existing suppliers, and effectively drive findings closures by proposing and implementing necessary CAPA - Coordinate and manage cosmetic waivers and limit sample selections and allocations for all involved stakeholders - Take lead process capability assessment, measurement system analysis, MSOP & correlation and SPC implementations at supplier site - Initialize the review and approval for supplier PPAP - Contribute to final product release activities in accordance with established procedures, production schedules and gate exit requirements - Develop and prepare documentation, post reports, drive quality metrics and communication - Drive respective teams responsible for issues until a decision or solution is reached - Track issue and task progresses in JIRA and understand BOM components, layout and drawings with a PLM system (i.e. Arena, Agile, etc.)
