- Collaborate with Product Management, Finance, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to set product cost target and guardrails. - Drive initiatives with the Cross-functional Team to create a detailed cost reduction plan to meet or exceed product cost targets. - Work alongside the Cross-functional Team to identify the cost implications of engineering and process changes. - Conduct regular cost reviews with Executive Management and thoroughly analyze every aspect of your product costs. - Plan and manage tooling budget and spend. - Architect and establish a solid Supplier Plan of Record (SPOR) for the product(s) along with Engineering, Software, Supply Chain, and other Ops functional teams to ensure time-to-market, supply continuity, manufacturability, scalability, and sustainability. - Coordinate with EMS partners to determine the product purchase order cost for xVT builds. - Manage purchase price variance claims due to engineering changes, component obsolescence, or forecast discrepancies. - Drive successful implementation of the SPOR during the development cycle through mass production prior to transferring to sustaining team. A day in the life The Materials Program Manager has a business orientation and is responsible for working with the local and remote operations and engineering teams driving development, implementation and management of the product budget. This person is the business voice responsible for capturing, documenting and communicating financial exposures and outlay as it relates to their product. They are involved throughout all stages of the product family's life-cycle to ensure we achieve all financial targets through end-of-life. They support weekly executive product line reviews outlining performance against budget, target and actual cost.
• SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: • CLEAR TO BUILD • - Handle the CTB process, ensure the process is working smoothly and we have clear visibility on materials over a 26-week horizon. Partner with the CM’s and the GSSMs (Global Supply and Sourcing Management) on all identified material issues (including sub-tier supply chain) until issues are closed/resolved. • ALLOCATIONS • - Play a meaningful role in the allocation of components that are in tight supply. • - Provide an aggregated view of supply versus demand as the baseline for program and site-allocation decisions. • - Collaborate with the SDMs (Supply Demand Management), OPMs (Operation Program Management) and GSSMs to make sure we allocate parts to contribute the best value. Communicate the allocation strategy with the significant parties. • EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT REPORTING • - Build and maintain reports and summaries on a regular basis to support the business growth. Ensure reports are concise and on time to drive business decision making. • NEW PRODUCT MATERIALS READINESS • - During New Product Introduction (NPI) phase, lead material readiness to ensure that we understand the supply base and related challenges - Identify critical engineering release breakthroughs; assess necessity for risk ramp and associated liabilities, to ensure material supply for product ramp is protected. • - Identify issues early in the NPI phase and monitor/drive these to resolution prior to ramp. • - Identify supply chain on modules and components to ensure that we understand any challenges associated with the new product. • EXCESS & OBSOLETE • - Lead phase-out of obsolete parts and the transition to new production materials. • - Identify and mitigate E&O in advance to ensure we make the correct company decisions regarding build plan changes, cut-in vs. roll-in requirements, post ramp qualification opportunities, etc. • - Highlight parts with liability and propose solutions to management. • - Upon Engineering Change Notice (ECN) or End of Production (EOP) events, track & audit E&O claims, report to Finance for financial reserves, and ensure timely resolution and closure of such claims/reserves. • LOGISTICS • - Ensure the smooth flow of materials necessary to meet the production schedules, inventory control requirements, and on-going production support.
Collaborate with product design and manufacturing teams on material selection, design, and manufacturing process development that meets performance, aesthetics, and other product requirements. Creation of material specifications based on critical quality attributes for product design. Utilize appropriate statistical and/or data analysis tools that translate these material critical attributes into a repeatable and capable manufacturing process. Establish and manage relationships with manufacturers/suppliers to identify emerging technologies.
The NPI Materials Manager is responsible for all activities related to material fulfillment for NPI builds, from forecasts to delivery to E&O (Excess & Obsolescence), including day-to-day communication and management of the OEM partner globally. This person has a business orientation and is responsible for working within the local and remote Operations team driving order fulfillment. This role is the single threaded owner of the NPI Clear to Build (CTB). In this role, you will: - Act as the primary liaison between OEM and team in Sunnyvale monitoring, managing and driving the OEM to assure NPI materials goals / schedule is being met - Communicate forecast and verify fulfillment from a materials perspective - Drive solutions to reduce and eliminate any shortages preventing meeting order schedule, including assisting in sourcing materials as required - Schedule and host meetings with suppliers in US and/or globally as required reducing and eliminating shortages - Review and verify any E&O (Excess & Obsolescence) generated from NPI builds and drive solutions to minimize E&O amount. - Be responsible for report generation and distribution - Represent the materials organization in internal Lab126 program meetings - Some travel may be required, especially around xVT builds
NVIDIA has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Materials Planner in our Quick Turn/ NPI Materials Organization. The position requires exceptional materials management skills and supply planning expertise in a dynamic and fast paced environment. The ideal candidate would have a deep understanding of procurement, planning, and contract manufacturing supply chain in multinational manufacturing industry. What you’ll be doing: • Collaborate effectively with Engineering Program Mgmt. teams to understand build requirements for new products supporting bring-up boards for validation and qualification. Support the engineers’ requests on material transition, samples delivery, deviation release. • Manage build schedule shortages impacting CTB (clear to build) and work with materials support team on materials supply risk mitigation. • Effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams including GCM, engineering, manufacturing, to ensure alignment on NPI material requirements and build timelines. Use data analytics to identify and address potential roadblocks or challenges. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance NPI supply chain efficiency and effectiveness. Find opportunities to streamline processes, reduce lead times, and improve overall supply chain performance. • Proactively identify and mitigate supply risks using data analytics. Develop data-driven contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to minimize the impact of potential disruptions. • Manage consigned material demand in ERP system and follow through with internal teams to ensure consigned materials readiness to schedule, manage the consigned inventory with accurate allocation and excess disposition. • Monitor BOM changes and ensure all changes are identified and loaded accurately through MRP/SAP system. • Consolidate results and provide updates to cross functional teams on material status for all assigned NPI builds. Run review meetings with internal (engineering and operations) and external teams (CMs) to align build schedules. • Prepare and communicate critical Materials availability updates to cross functional leadership teams; maintain executive reports and summaries, providing accurate and timely data to leadership on agreed cadence.
