The role: Tesla Electronics Test and Automation Group (ETAG) is the main point of contact to ensure the highest quality vehicle, silicon and robotics electronics for our customers. Our mission is to develop test automation equipment, architect software automation framework, and provide hardware/software/data infrastructure for Tesla electronics communities worldwide. We are seeking a multi-faceted Electrical Engineer who will be responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing; implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting all low voltage PCBAs including, but not limited to, body controllers and car computers. This candidate will work with test engineers within the group to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures at suppliers and factories to improve quality, reliability, durability of the products. The Role: Tesla's Electronics Supplier Industrialization Engineering team plays a crucial role in developing and qualifying critical component and electronic part Top-Level Assembly (TLA) processes with our suppliers. We provide regional support for New Product Introduction (NPI) and legacy product management within the supply chain. This encompasses everything from early supplier Potential Supplier Assessments and Design for Manufacture (DFM), to industrialization and quality control activities. This position demands excellent cross-culture communication skills, strong supplier management expertise, a willingness to travel domestically, and the ability to make critical decisions in time-sensitive situations. The role supports a diverse product portfolio, low voltage TLA/PCBA, including Senser Parts, ECU parts. Responsibilities: Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles during early product development, providing valuable feedback to NPI SIE (Supplier Industrialization engineer) and design teams. Conduct onsite supplier audit and provide assessment for sourcing decision, develop new suppliers to meet Tesla sourcing requirements. Drive continuous improvement in supplier scalability, cost, and quality performance. Manage and optimize supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance. Facilitate clear communication of technical requirements between suppliers and Tesla's Supply Chain, SIE, and Design teams. Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with part performance, delivery, and reliability expectations. Collaborate with Tesla supply chain teams to establish optimal performance specifications and supplier metrics. Lead, track, and improve supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes. Manage and enhance production and product quality. Guide suppliers in developing robust processes and procedures for efficient, high-quality product manufacturing. Follow up and drive SCAR (supplier corrective actions review) with supplier. Validate supplier corrective actions for design and/or process changes, ensuring they are sustainable and implemented across manufacturing lines and suppliers to prevent recurrence. Contribute to the evaluation of new or alternative materials for improved design, manufacturability, or cost reduction.

Team The Low Voltage Hardware team designs circuit boards which control hundreds of devices (motors, actuators, sensors, LEDs, etc) across all electrical systems (seats, doors, HVAC, powertrain, safety, chassis, lighting, etc) in Tesla’s autonomous robotaxi vehicles. Responsibilities Start-to-finish hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic, layout supervision, manufacturing, bringup, and validation of circuit boards. Collaborate with PCB layout, firmware, mechanical, program management, and validation teams Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, validation results, etc Rapidly iterate as design requirements and product features mature over time Required Skills Circuit board design (Altium preferred) Strong understanding of analog & digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, component selection, power dissipation, etc) Ability to tackle open-ended challenges using first-principles Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, etc) Exceptional organization and English communication skills (both written and verbal) Preferred Skills Experience shipping high-volume circuit boards Basic programming ability (Python preferred) Knowledge of automotive design
