 About the Team: The GCID Hyperscaler Engineering (HSE) team plays a pivotal role in SAP’s transition to the global public cloud. As part of the HSE Operations & Service Delivery’s Operations Enablement team, you will collaborate closely with global operations, development teams, and business stakeholders to ensure our public cloud connectivity, data acquisition, and observability objectives are met.
 
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with a strong development focus to join our dynamic global team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions and internal tooling tailored for hyperscaler networks. Specifically, you will be involved in engineering our hyperscaler network automation suite to bring new features for:
Automated service delivery
Live service status reporting
Highly scalable, highly redundant hyperscaler network monitoring & alerting
Automated, AI-enabled, network incident diagnostics
 
The role will focus on AliCloud, but has high levels of exposure across Azure, AWS, GCP and IBM platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain network automation and observability tooling for hyperscaler network environments (including VPNs, subnets, private connectivity and load balancers).
Develop and integrate RESTful backend APIs ensuring seamless interoperability between internal systems and cloud platforms.
Collaborate with network engineers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate technical requirements into robust, production-ready code.
Contribute to infrastructure-as-code solutions and CI/CD pipelines to enable automated deployment and continuous improvement.
Actively participate in Agile team meetings and promote best practices in testing, documentation, and code review
 
Essential Requirements:
BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline (MSc preferable).
5+ years of professional experience in Python programming.
At least 3 years’ hands-on experience with one or more public cloud providers (AliCloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Strong experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform, Git and GitHub actions, Jenkins, Grafana, or equivalent.
Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipeline development, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
Solid understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and ability to manage technical workloads within projects.
Knowledge of Enterprise Cloud Engineering and Operations at scale
 
Preferred:
Cloud certification and demonstrable knowledge of cloud networking concepts – e.g. routing, load balancing, VPNs, and network security best practices.
Hands-on experience with data lakes, large-scale data management, and unstructured/structured data processing at a global enterprise scale.
Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with additional scripting or programming languages (e.g., Terraform).
Exposure to full stack development (e.g., developing web-based dashboards or internal tools using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as Next.js, React, or Angular, and back-end frameworks such as Node.js, Django, or Flask).
