Product Engineering Technical Program Manager( PE TPM) works closely with teams located in both US and China throughout the design cycle. TPM is responsible for driving Mechanical supplier facing cross-functional teams and supply base to achieve the project goals. This role is the focal point of contact in China for all Mechanical activities. TPM needs close communication and teamwork with the US based teams such as Product Design, PD EPM, System EPM, ID etc., to ensure the projects are progressing according to schedule. TPM is responsible for closely monitoring and driving China side activities including DFM, tooling release, process qualification, and material preparation for builds. Working closely with the Mechanical Process Engineer (MPE), Tooling Engineer (TE), Global Commodity Manager (GCM), Supplier Quality Manager (SQM) and Reliability Engineer (REL). PE TPM is also responsible for driving suppliers to ensure the schedules on track, issues resolved and quality requirements met. The Role and Major Responsibilities: - Overall program owner within PE team for mechanical components development - Act as focal point for all China side Mechanical Component Development - Drive risk mitigations with China based teams and communicate outward to a cross functional audience - Maintain close communication with the US based core team members such as PD, PD TPM, System TPM and ID to ensure issue resolution and schedule - Work closely with Mechanical Process Engineering teams, Tooling Engineering teams, and suppliers to keep tooling and material schedules on track - Lead critical issue resolution throughout product development cycles. - Travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites and Amazon US as needed to keep project on schedule - Drive and track mechanical material readiness for Engineering builds - Lead meetings to keep supplier facing cross functional teams organized and focused throughout design cycle - Lead meetings to make good sync up between China based teams and US based teams - Work with cross-functionally managing a diverse group of engineering, operations and product management professional proficient at creating and tracking complex development schedules, tracking risks and issues

The Role The Mechanical Fixturing Engineer, is a critical role responsible for designing, reviewing, simulating, optimizing fixturing for Tesla Supply Chain. The fixturing engineering will cover fixturing for processes such as assembly, tooling, welding, stamping, inspection fixturing. The mechanical fixturing engineer will evaluate the supplier proposal, optimize, and also help in RFQ/sourcing of the fixtures to ensure the highest standards of quality and cost effectiveness. Key Responsibilities · Tooling Fixture Design Review: Conduct thorough reviews of tooling fixture designs for plastic, stamping, die-cast components, assembly, inspection, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, manufacturing requirements, and customer specifications. · Collaborate with engineering teams to design and develop tools optimized for cost efficiency and quality standards. · Work closely with Tesla supplier chain, engineering, SIE, Tier1 & tooling fixture suppliers during the RFQ process to develop and quote tooling solutions that are optimized for process, cycle time, quality, and cost. · Assess the capability of fixture suppliers to be included in Tesla fixture supplier list. · Problem-Solving: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve tooling-related issues, including part quality problems, process inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities. · Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve fixturing processes, reduce cycle times, cost, and enhance overall manufacturing efficiency. · Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of fixturing designs, analysis results, and process improvements. · Implement and uphold industry standards in tooling processes, ensuring all tools meet Tesla’s rigorous quality requirements. The mission is to ensure the seamless integration of design and manufacturing processes. As a pivotal part of our team, you will focus on the advancement of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles, developing MFD (Manufacturing for design) solutions, driving manufacturing feedback to Engineering and implementing industry optimized methodology to ensure smooth system integration in manufacturing.You will be working concurrently with NVIDIA hardware engineering teams and thermal, mechanical suppliers to develop manufacturing maturity at the same pace of product design, starting from conception phase, through new NPI to MP (mass production). We are looking for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment and are not afraid to roll-up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. We desire a self-starter, with great communication skills and a deep sense of commitment. What you’ll be doing: • Manage consumer NPI mechanical and thermal component qualification, manufacturing technology management and MP readiness. • Represent Operations during early product life cycle and provide manufacturability, quality, cost and yield impact information to design, sourcing, and manufacturing engineering teams. • Ensure clear product specifications, such as CMF (color, material and finish), cosmetic spec, 2D drawing and reliability requirement. • Lead suppliers to establish efficient fabrication process flow and to drive solutions to problems that are or might adversely affect MP. • Provide manufacturability feasibility analysis, identify risks, develop mitigation plan and apply risk minimizing techniques to optimize manufacturability. • Perform surveys and audits for new supplier selection and qualification with functional teams. • Implementing KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid), handle DFM exception agreement. • Address front line production and manufacturing product issues, monitor health of fleet and initiate investigation of issues, and root cause product failures and drive corrective action. • Own yield and efficiency improvement actions and process change decisions based on statistical process control (SPC) data analysis to meet target capacity. • Manufacturing waste reduction, cost optimization proposals as well as cosmetic appearance improvement.
