1.Provide specialist payments legal advice and subject matter resources required to support the business. 2.Advise on compliance across all aspects of Singapore/Hong Kong/international payments laws and regulations, including license requirements. 3.Manage outside counsel for all payments projects. 4.Handle regulatory requests and manage working relationship with financial regulator(s). 5.Draft, review, negotiate and administer legal and commercial documentations. 6.Keep the business teams and internal stakeholders abreast of all new relevant laws and regulations that may have implications for the Company.
We seek to hire a legal counsel/senior legal counsel of commercial legal who will be a key member of the growing legal team supporting AliExpress consumer facing e-commerce platform and services in the European Union, the UK and other markets, with a expected focus on certain markets (eg Eastern Europe) as well as support on certain EU-wide compliance (in particular DSA related). The attorney will be based in our Hangzhou main office or in one of our European offices (with a strong preference for Warsaw, Amsterdam or Madrid). The key areas and requirements that we are looking for are those listed below: Primary Responsibilities * Reporting to Head of Legal for Europe, AliExpress, advise on legal aspects of the platform’s international expansion of current and proposed new e-commerce offerings. * Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of the implementation of commercial agreements, business models and strategies, business operations, marketing activities, and product offerings. * Research local laws and regulations in the local jurisdictions and manage outside counsel. * Support on regulatory enquiries and other requirements, including but not limited to Requests for Information (RFI) under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) or other legislation. * Provide advice on platform compliance, product listing compliance, local and cross border logistics, import/export, payment acceptance, antitrust and/or unfair competition matters. * Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and commercial agreements. * Develop in-house legal tools and policies, and conduct trainings to business units.

The role is based in Kuala Lumpur and will primarily support an innovative team that engages in projects with merchant, channels and other partners to increase traffic and engagement. This role supports projects and initiatives of the business unit globally, working side-by-side with a creative team in a dynamic and challenging environment, to support the development and roll-out of novel products or initiatives. The successful candidate should be a sensible advisor and partner to Business and senior management, allowing them to make informed decisions based on risk-based approach and other overarching corporate policies. Job scope 1) Drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts relating to SaaS services, marketing services, advertising and distribution services, framework arrangements, procurement and other collaborations 2) Provide legal support and advice to the international business team on a wide variety of cross-border regulatory matters, including conducting legal analysis on new product initiatives and working closely with compliance, AML and privacy team to ensure regulatory risks are properly managed. 3) Working closely with legal experts from various jurisdictions and multiple disciplines, including financial regulatory, data privacy, intellectual property, tax, etc. 4) Supporting the internal review and approval processes for new initiatives. 5) Keeping abreast of changes in laws and regulations related to payment services, financial services and contracts, and providing updates to the legal team and internal stakeholders. 6) Support legaltech initiatives including creation of standard form documents for automation, adding to regulatory knowhow database etc. 7) Managing external legal counsel as needed in an effective and efficient manner. 8) Escalating issues, as appropriate, and partnering collaboratively with other team members to support the business.
