As a member of design team at Apple, you will help to build the next generation of the world's most innovative mobile devices. You will conceive, design, and bring into production products that will re-define the mobile experience. We’re seeking someone with strong mechanical design skills, an ability to lead projects, and excellent communication skills both with vendors in Asia and designers inside Apple. You will be responsible for driving failure analysis, building prototypes, studying analytical models, and organizing DOEs as we study new designs. As designs mature, you will work on-site at contract manufacturers within China to implement and assemble the team’s designs.
• Research into materials and component technologies to evaluate development opportunities. • Design features and test to meet program objectives. • Conduct test failure analysis and solution validation to complete successful product development. • Detail part design and product documentation. • Field failure analysis and solution evaluation for production product issues. A day in the life As a Sustaining PD Engineer intern you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of post ramp qualification, field return failure analysis and design/ production yield improvement initiatives. As a Product/Test Engineering Intern, you'll support the development and implementation of strategies that achieve profitability targets on assigned TI product lines through new product development, cost reduction, capacity expansion and yield enhancement projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Testing and troubleshooting issues • Developing production and characterization test specifications • Creating and managing product documentation • Providing product development support, which involves interfacing with design, test engineering, quality engineering, and other groups • Designing, debugging, and correlating test hardware and software • Designing interface and measurement circuits to make tester capabilities compatible with product definitions You could work in one of the following roles based on degree:• Software Engineer • Mechanical Design Engineer • Product Engineer • Test Engineer You'll have direct involvement in the entire lifecycle of the products in your assigned product portfolio, including product definition, qualification, manufacturing, cost optimization, and quality.
