工作职责
As a Display Metrology Technologist, you will • Deep dive and FMEA for new display technology/architecture in prototype phase. Collaborate with cross functional teams to build end-to-end calibration and test strategy. • Design corresponding metrology system with good balance of engineering requirements, development cycle time and financial budgeting. • Touch every aspect of a display test system, including requirement specification, hardware/software development and audit process definition. • Provide trustable report with subjective data, to help new display design convergence by revealing or even predicting hidden risks. • Practice modeling, simulation and machine learning to assist data driven decision. • Present progress and result in working level and executive level meeting. • Up to 5% domestic + international traveling
You will be responsible for designing and developing objective solutions for calibrating, characterizing, and testing display modules and components for Apple products. You will work on system design, development, validation, and production deployment during the New Product Introduction (NPI) stage, with support from SW/HW cross-functional teams. Develop industry-leading calibration and metrology methodology and solutions Develop macOS SW interfacing with various HW systems utilizing common communication interfaces such as SPI, 12C, TCP/IP, USB and instrument-specific SDs Develop automation software and test sequences that control optical instruments, electronics driving boards, fixture controllers, and display modules. Work with team to define calibration & measurement SW requirements Conduct SW/FW FA of measurement tools.
As a Senior Optics Design Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. You will work closely with an internal interdisciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. In this role, you will: • Work with a component engineering team and product engineering team to provide rapid prototyping and characterization of optics or imaging systems • Provide support for modelling and design for prototyping and manufacturing of lightguides and lenses. • Use software tools (LightTools, Zemax etc.) to model system optics characteristics • Work with cross-functional team to draft component specification, design reviews, work with vendors to manufacture parts and validate results by specifying test parameters and methodologies • Communicate and manage overseas component manufacturing vendors A day in the life As a senior optical design engineer, the day begins with reviewing simulation results from the latest lens design iteration. I analyze optical performance metrics like sharpness, aberrations and image quality, ensuring the design meets specifications. Meetings with cross-functional teams follow, where we discuss project timelines, material constraints, and integration challenges. Afternoons are spent refining models in Zemax or CODE V, testing prototypes, or collaborating with the manufacturing team to ensure seamless production. Occasionally, I mentor engineers, reviewing their work and offering guidance. The day wraps up with documenting progress and planning next steps for future optimizations.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse, multi-functional team of Engineering Program Managers (EPMs), fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Drive team performance and individual growth. • Stakeholder Partnership: Establish, continuously maintain, and nurture robust functional partnerships with key partners across Apple (Engineering, Operations, Product and Research) - across timezones and continents Engineering, Product, and other multi-functional teams globally. • Strategic Alignment & Roadmap Influence: Work proactively with key HWTE technology partners in Europe, US and Asia to review and understand technology/module roadmaps. Ensure strategic alignment between new technology investments and the development of appropriate, scalable, and forward-looking metrology solutions. • Technical Program Execution: Lead all aspects of and drive successful execution of metrology development and algorithm pipelines from concept through to mass production for complex technologies. Support NPI builds/ characterization activities at CM/OEM partners.
The Technology Program Office in Hardware Test Engineering (HWTE) champions technology calibration and test strategy while balancing between quality/customer experience with operational requirements. In this highly cross functional role, we are looking for leaders to engage in early stages of technology development supporting prototyping, design validation, simulation & metrology development activities, as well as identifying mass production intent solutions. This would require proactively driving alignment and convergence plan with cross functional teams, identifying risks & mitigating them — all while presenting frequently to senior leadership across Apple.
