Develop and implement test protocols to measure and characterize cell properties and electro-chemical performance Develop and implement process flows for the effective implementation of the protocols Develop, implement, and document validation methods to ensure the integrity of the lab data Coordinate characterization data collection Coordinate the acquisition or in-house design and manufacture of small tools for lab use Resolve need for and schedule/perform routine maintenance of test equipment and meters Collect and analyze test data, write-up reports as necessary Maintain standard operating procedure database Collaborate with team on necessary deviations in test, detail any procedure changes Communicate results to engineering team Refine/Update test procedures and documents Train and mentor technicians in the operation and upkeep of test equipment and tools
THE ROLE We are hiring test engineers for our Reliability and Test team. We are interested in candidates with all levels of experience, but will prioritize strong problem solvers and communicators that drive projects independently. RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop and implement test programs for electric vehicle powertrain technologies. • Interface with design, reliability, material scientists, quality, and service to identify failure modes and create design validation test plans. • Collaborate with test technicians as peers to achieve test objectives. • Design and fabricate test equipment for mechanical, thermal, and electrical systems. • Perform component, system, and vehicle validation by simulating realistic and accelerated dynamic and environmental conditions. • Identify and execute DOEs targeting new technologies or critical failures. • Investigate device failures to drive product development and test improvement. • Interface with and simulate complex vehicular systems to validate firmware/hardware interactions. • Create novel ways to apply skills learned in the test lab to benefit the company and our products.

As a Battery Electronics Test Engineer, you will work with a passionate and multi-disciplinary group of engineers while learning how to build and use hardware, firmware, and software solutions to validate Tesla Battery Electronics products to rigorous internal and automotive-industry standards. We are interested in diverse candidates of relevant experience, and we will prioritize curious and driven engineers with strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
