THE ROLE: AMD’s Strategic Silicon Solutions group is responsible for custom silicon for advanced gaming platforms such as XBOX, PlayStation, and Steam Deck. As a Staff Post-Silicon Power and Performance Validation Engineer you will play a critical role in ensuring our custom silicon products meet power and performance targets and are optimized for customer use cases. You will interact with architecture, firmware, driver, and other teams to develop testplans for new product features, execute studies in a lab environment, and analyze data to validate that the product meets specifications.

As a Principal Post-Silicon Power and Performance Engineer you will play a critical role in ensuring our custom silicon products meet power and performance targets and are optimized for customer use cases. You will partner with architecture, software, manufacturing, and other teams to develop a deep understanding of power and performance requirements and work with a multi-site team of engineers to develop and execute studies to validate products meet specifications. The role requires extensive data analysis and communication of results with customers and senior leaders. THE PERSON: We are looking for a technical expert with extensive experience in x86, ARM, or GPU hardware or firmware development with a passion for power validation and optimization spanning low-power mobile to console-level devices. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Build deep expertise in existing and emerging power and performance features. Apply expertise to develop strategies for achieving power or performance targets, drive overall validation and tuning of power or performance features and partner with manufacturing and customer engineering to ensure production readiness. Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders.
THE ROLE: This is a role in post-silicon power and performance engineering team who will act as end-to-end owner for System/APU/GPU performance optimization from first silicon to production. This role needs to have stronger data scientific sense which can learn and build power and performance data insight structure via well-using internal experiment data including the whole data analytic process from data collecting, clean, modelling , templating, insights, and visualization. Technically it requires the person to have a clear understand of key performance influence factors in silicon design and implementation, also understand how to collaborate with the critical program milestone and be responsible to drive across sites and across teams for performance related feature readiness and data analytics. THE PERSON: The person needs to be passionate and well self-motivated, sensitive to the delivery urgency and the innovation path, a good communicator with teamwork spirit, eager to learn new knowledge, able to resolve complex problem. The person needs to have a natural interest in mathematic algorithms, logical coding and beauty of data telling. The person needs to be enthusiasm on data analytic job. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with internal data producing team and external automation framework team to develop engineering experience-based power and performance data analytic process and visualization structure. Work closely with SOC design team & program lead team to understand performance target and validation methodology for APU/GPU Component and overall reference design System Develop system and component level performance test strategies and plans. Attend ASIC bring-up and validation, ensure coverage and schedule. Execute performance test plans for APU/GPU/System and give out the improvement suggestion. Compose validation reports and provide future test plan improvement. Work with CE team to understand Customer expectations of power and performance design and support debugging. Automate some of manual tests in Shell/Python or other scripting language.
• New Chip bring-up and characterize next generation of GPU ASICs in post-silicon. • Work closely with Chip designer and Board designer to ensure hardware meets design objectives and is ready of mass production. • Help design tools to automate product definitions, data collection, test case execution, and results analysis. • Analyze pre-production silicon in state-of-the-art process technologies for performance, power, yield, and quality to define the world’s fastest power-shipping products. • Develop post-silicon methodologies to characterize silicon features, correlate silicon behavior with simulations and provide design feedback.
• Proactively dive into new feature and spec from Pre-Si and lead test strategies development, including functional validation methodology, characterization and tuning strategy, platform/component interoperability, test design, debug capability and tools/scripts, system, SLT, and manufacturing test requirement. • Develop bring-up, validation, tuning, and productization plans. • Build supporting tools/script/infrastructure with relevant stakeholder teams. • Continuously optimize validation and productization processes and methodologies to improve overall quality and efficiency. • Proactively drive and identify opportunities and methods for test strategies and validation methodology optimization, efficiency improvement and innovation based on project learnings and challenging.
