· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in fixture industries (Fixture design/manufacturing/processing/PM etc) with a focus on plastic, stamping, and die-casting applications.
· Experience with advanced tooling fixture design and analysis techniques.
· Knowledge of materials science and metallurgy.
· Knowledge of plastic bonding (assembly/US welding/IR welding/vibration welding/hot plate), stamping electric resistance/MIG/laser welding, checking fixture etc.
· Expert in Gauge R&R, CMM, scanning, GD&T.
· Proficiency with automotive interior & exterior plastic/sheet metal/casting parts
· Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, UG, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and tooling design principles.

工作职责


The Role
The Mechanical Fixturing Engineer, is a critical role responsible for designing, reviewing, simulating, optimizing fixturing for Tesla Supply Chain. The fixturing engineering will cover fixturing for processes such as assembly, tooling, welding, stamping, inspection fixturing. The mechanical fixturing engineer will evaluate the supplier proposal, optimize, and also help in RFQ/sourcing of the fixtures to ensure the highest standards of quality and cost effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
· Tooling Fixture Design Review: Conduct thorough reviews of tooling fixture designs for plastic, stamping, die-cast components, assembly, inspection, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, manufacturing requirements, and customer specifications.
· Collaborate with engineering teams to design and develop tools optimized for cost efficiency and quality standards.
· Work closely with Tesla supplier chain, engineering, SIE, Tier1 & tooling fixture suppliers during the RFQ process to develop and quote tooling solutions that are optimized for process, cycle time, quality, and cost.
· Assess the capability of fixture suppliers to be included in Tesla fixture supplier list.
· Problem-Solving: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve tooling-related issues, including part quality problems, process
inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
· Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve fixturing processes, reduce cycle times, cost, and enhance overall manufacturing efficiency.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of fixturing designs, analysis results, and process improvements.
· Implement and uphold industry standards in tooling processes, ensuring all tools meet Tesla’s rigorous quality requirements. Stay updated on the latest advancements in tooling technology and techniques to continuously improve our tooling capabilities.

The mission is to ensure the seamless integration of design and manufacturing processes. As a pivotal part of our team, you will focus on the advancement of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles, developing MFD (Manufacturing for design) solutions, driving manufacturing feedback to Engineering and implementing industry optimized methodology to ensure smooth system integration in manufacturing.You will be working concurrently with NVIDIA hardware engineering teams and thermal, mechanical suppliers to develop manufacturing maturity at the same pace of product design, starting from conception phase, through new NPI to MP (mass production). What you’ll be doing: • Manage consumer NPI mechanical and thermal component qualification, manufacturing technology management and MP readiness. • Represent Operations during early product life cycle and provide manufacturability, quality, cost and yield impact information to design, sourcing, and manufacturing engineering teams. • Ensure clear product specifications, such as CMF (color, material and finish), cosmetic spec, 2D drawing and reliability requirement. • Lead suppliers to establish efficient fabrication process flow and to drive solutions to problems that are or might adversely affect MP. • Provide manufacturability feasibility analysis, identify risks, develop mitigation plan and apply risk minimizing techniques to optimize manufacturability. • Perform surveys and audits for new supplier selection and qualification with functional teams. • Implementing KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid), handle DFM exception agreement. • Address front line production and manufacturing product issues, monitor health of fleet and initiate investigation of issues, and root cause product failures and drive corrective action. • Own yield and efficiency improvement actions and process change decisions based on statistical process control (SPC) data analysis to meet target capacity. • Manufacturing waste reduction, cost optimization proposals as well as cosmetic appearance improvement.
