It is the responsibility of this team to lead all software driven, system level, vehicle requirements prior to any new hardware or software release or new product introduction. As a thermal system intern, you are expected to understand the software/hardware dependencies in thermal system, from thermal devices (compressor, EXV, pump, fan, temperature sensors, BLDC) to system integration (cabin HVAC control, heat pump fundamentals). You must maintain a close relationship with all members of the design cycle to guarantee you are prepared to rigorously and comprehensively test all new features and changes made in your area of responsibility. Responsibilities: Work with hardware and software, modeling, controls and development teams, to understand thermal system features and define executable software specification. Develop and execute comprehensive system and sub-system level test specifications and test plans and provide feedback to development teams. Develop prototype test setups to integrate new subsystems with simulated or actual vehicle components for early evaluations. Investigate field issues through data analysis and issue reproduction. Dig into data and source code to identify and debug issues and propose robust solutions.

System Validation tests are primarily developed using python for complex and robust validation strategies and deliver automated solutions to execute those strategies efficiently and repeatedly, thus enabling rapid iteration and evolution of Tesla’s vehicle systems. This role will be responsible for firmware validation of the charging system, including developing validation strategies, test cases for new hardware and firmware, and building automation validation bucks for ACDC system, improve the automation. The Role The Factory Firmware Team is focused on vehicle software and integration engineering in support of manufacturing and new product introduction. This will include projects to create or improve integration tools, as well as tasks to investigate vehicle software improvements in the manufacturing environment. It is important that this person is excited about learning new skills and systems and has strong collaboration skills. This person will be expected to move projects along at an aggressive pace and to get your hands dirty in the details of various subsystems – digging through backend logs, root causing issues and developing solutions to complex problems. The Factory Firmware Team is the eyes and ears of the Firmware organization within the factory and often have the last say on the deployment of new firmware to manufacturing – providing valuable insight and feedback to accelerate development of new software features. In this role, you will manage the development and the introduction of several cutting-edge firmware integration projects, leveraging your expertise in system integration and driving results with Tesla's signature agility and speed. Responsibilities Manage cross-functional programs from end-to-end, covering a range of areas including firmware impacts driven by program change scope, firmware branch strategy, firmware trials, manufacturing setups and tests, firmware flashing, and coordination with hardware & firmware development teams and program teams. Develop and manage project plans and ensure on-time delivery. Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to effectively coordinate firmware development, trials, validation, & integration to the factory.
