The mission of Tesla Materials Engineering organization is to deliver new materials and manufacturing processes that revolutionize Tesla’s products. We own the Tesla-specified materials available to Design Engineering, and we deliver that ownership through material selection, characterization, specifications, issue resolution, and materials design.

Role:
We are seeking an exceptional Materials Engineer in Shanghai to develop new thermal materials for Tesla products. You will still define and lead characterization and test campaigns when the work requires it, but the job is to invent and industrialize better thermal materials.

Your home discipline is metals: high-conductivity alloys, heat-spreader and heat-sink materials, sintered and porous metals, heat pipes and vapor chambers, and metal-based thermal interface systems. The method is materials-agnostic. You must be able to flex into polymers, composites, ceramics, coatings, or fluids when that is the better answer for the product.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to rapidly acquire new expertise as Tesla products and processes change.
