● Demonstrated ability to work independently in fast-paced environment and provide pragmatic and considered advice under tight deadline.
● Possess a practical approach to problem-solving and be able to counsel internal clients with clear, concise and creative advice on timelines to meet business needs.
● Familiarity with financial services industry and payment processing. Experience in tech company (e.g. SaaS, social media, AI, app-based services) would be an advantage.

We are seeking a lead Privacy Counsel to support Ant International’s growing Alipay+, Antom and Bettr business. Looking for a tech-savvy privacy lawyer who is passionate about data and eager to work on innovative issues in the fintech space and knowledgeable and experienced in China's Personal Information Protection Law. You are a business enabler. You will work closely with product and tech team, business development personnel, risk management and other legal/compliance/AML professional, and provide strategic advice to enable business growth and innovation in a privacy compliant manner. You are an effective DPO. You will establish, implement, and maintain privacy governance framework for the relevant business line and ensure compliance with applicable data privacy law and regulations. Responsibilities: Privacy Advisory: ● Provide privacy support to new product launches and initiatives in China and collaborate with APAC team for APAC initiatives. ● Analyze products, policies and initiatives to provide practical risk assessment and solution. ● Drive and implement privacy by design, understand the tech and product, and translate privacy principles into actionable product features. ● Support legal team in contract drafting and negotiation for privacy related issues. Privacy Compliance/DPO responsibilities: ● Drive and implement China’s PIPL compliance for the relevant entities as well as other applicable data privacy laws and regulations ● Monitor changes and updates in privacy legislation and advise on potential impacts to the relevant business lines.

This role supports projects and initiatives of the business unit globally, working side-by-side with a creative team in a dynamic and challenging environment, to support the development and roll-out of novel products or initiatives. The successful candidate should be a sensible advisor and partner to Business and senior management, allowing them to make informed decisions based on risk-based approach and other overarching corporate policies.
