Ant International Legal Department is seeking a legal counsel to support Antom business operations (in particular the growth initiatives). The role is based in Kuala Lumpur and will primarily support an innovative team that engages in projects with merchant, channels and other partners to increase traffic and engagement. This role supports projects and initiatives of the business unit globally, working side-by-side with a creative team in a dynamic and challenging environment, to support the development and roll-out of novel products or initiatives. The successful candidate should be a sensible advisor and partner to Business and senior management, allowing them to make informed decisions based on risk-based approach and other overarching corporate policies. Job scope 1) Drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts relating to SaaS services, marketing services, advertising and distribution services, framework arrangements, procurement and other collaborations 2) Provide legal support and advice to the international business team on a wide variety of cross-border regulatory matters, including conducting legal analysis on new product initiatives and working closely with compliance, AML and privacy team to ensure regulatory risks are properly managed. 3) Working closely with legal experts from various jurisdictions and multiple disciplines, including financial regulatory, data privacy, intellectual property, tax, etc. 4) Supporting the internal review and approval processes for new initiatives. 5) Keeping abreast of changes in laws and regulations related to payment services, financial services and contracts, and providing updates to the legal team and internal stakeholders. 6) Support legaltech initiatives including creation of standard form documents for automation, adding to regulatory knowhow database etc. 7) Managing external legal counsel as needed in an effective and efficient manner. 8) Escalating issues, as appropriate, and partnering collaboratively with other team members to support the business.

You will be expected to: Understand and translate into business-friendly language the directives, laws, and regulations that apply to payment networks, payment schemes, payment service providers and other participants in the payments industry. Work in a muti-cultural environment, being demanded to interact with internal stakeholders across the entire globe. Provide clear, timely and actionable legal advice to cross-border and cross-functional stakeholders on products and features being developed and launched by UK and EEA e-money/payment institutions to ensure we comply with relevant regulatory requirements whilst meeting our customers’ needs. Advise on product structure and draft/negotiate contracts with internal stakeholders and external counterparties. Act as a trusted adviser to management on key regulatory matters impacting the business across the EMEA region, including working closely with subject matter experts in compliance, AML, data privacy. Identify productivity improvements and help deliver process change. Act as a strategic business partner and help the business continue to expand internationally; researching and evaluating new territories and providing creative, proactive and results-oriented advice.

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to support the Antom business at Ant International — a business unit focused on payment processing and related merchant services. In this role, you will work closely with business and cross-functional stakeholders to: 1. Assess regulatory aspects of new structures, projects, and jurisdictions. 2. Review, draft, and negotiate contracts. 3. Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws. You should be proactive, adaptable, and capable of handling complex legal challenges that enable innovative business growth. -- Key Responsibilities - Evaluate and support the business in structuring new products, expanding into new jurisdictions, and developing innovative business plans from a legal and regulatory perspective. - Provide clear, practical legal advice on proposed products and features to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while meeting market needs. - Review, draft, and negotiate contracts related to merchant acquisition and payment services — including merchant agreements, payment channel agreements, SaaS agreements, marketing agreements, and other legal contracts. - Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Business Development, Marketing, Operations, Risk, Finance) to ensure legal frameworks align with company objectives and policies. - Conduct legal research and provide regulatory advice on acquiring and merchant service-related matters. - Stay abreast of regulatory and legal developments in payment services and financial services, providing timely updates and guidance to business teams. - Some travel within China or other locations may be required.

We seek to hire a legal counsel/senior legal counsel of commercial legal who will be a key member of the growing legal team supporting AliExpress consumer facing e-commerce platform and services in the European Union, the UK and other markets, with a expected focus on certain markets (eg Eastern Europe) as well as support on certain EU-wide compliance (in particular DSA related). The attorney will be based in our Hangzhou main office or in one of our European offices (with a strong preference for Warsaw, Amsterdam or Madrid). The key areas and requirements that we are looking for are those listed below: Primary Responsibilities * Reporting to Head of Legal for Europe, AliExpress, advise on legal aspects of the platform’s international expansion of current and proposed new e-commerce offerings. * Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of the implementation of commercial agreements, business models and strategies, business operations, marketing activities, and product offerings. * Research local laws and regulations in the local jurisdictions and manage outside counsel. * Support on regulatory enquiries and other requirements, including but not limited to Requests for Information (RFI) under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) or other legislation. * Provide advice on platform compliance, product listing compliance, local and cross border logistics, import/export, payment acceptance, antitrust and/or unfair competition matters. * Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and commercial agreements. * Develop in-house legal tools and policies, and conduct trainings to business units.
