We are looking for self-motivated and innovative candidates to investigate approaches to large-scale mobile manipulation problems.NVIDIA is searching for a passionate and creative Senior Software Engineer to help build the next generation of embodied AI using Isaac Lab and Mimic! This is a rare opportunity to join a world-class team pushing the boundaries of robotics simulation, control, and learning in physically grounded, high-fidelity virtual environments. You’ll work at the intersection of large-scale imitation learning, physics simulation, sim-to-sim and sim-to-real transfer — helping accelerate breakthroughs in generalizable robot behavior. What You’ll Be Doing: • Design and implement scalable data generation pipelines using Isaac Lab and Omniverse for learning dexterous, high-DOF robotic tasks. • Extend and optimize NVIDIA’s Isaac Lab/Mimic toolchain for large scale learning from demonstration. • Collaborate with research scientists on cutting-edge problems such as imitation learning, motion retargeting, manipulation, and loco-manipulation. • Integrate large-scale, GPU-accelerated training workflows leveraging NVIDIA’s AI and simulation infrastructure. • Develop modular and reusable environments for benchmark robotic tasks across manipulation, locomotion, and loco-manipulation. • Contribute to open-source initiatives or publish high-quality research and where appropriate. What We Need to See: • M.S. or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. • 4+ years of experience in simulation-based reinforcement learning or robotics software. • Proficient in Python and C++, with experience in GPU programming or CUDA being a strong plus. • Deep understanding of physics simulation tools (Isaac Gym, Mujoco, Bullet, or similar). • Experience with motion imitation, pose tracking, or trajectory optimization using tools like Mimic or RL frameworks (e.g., IsaacRL, RLlib, Stable Baselines). • Proven track record of delivering complex software projects or publishing at top-tier conferences (RSS, CoRL, ICRA, NeurIPS, etc.). Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd: • Experience developing and deploying sim-to-real policies on physical robot hardware. • Contributions to open-source projects in the robotics, RL, or simulation ecosystems. • Prior experience working with NVIDIA Isaac Gym/Isaac Sim and the Omniverse platform. • Familiarity with large foundation models for vision or language, and how they can interface with embodied agents. • Strong grasp of multi-agent reinforcement learning, curriculum learning, or hierarchical policy design.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the NVIDIA Isaac projects, you will help build the platform for Physical AI robots — enabling sim-first development, real-world deployment, and continuous learning to make them smarter over time. The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering skills for real-time robotics applications and real-world experience with multi-body robots, such as humanoids and surgical robots. What You Will Be Doing: • Bring the latest advancements in Physical AI to simulated and real robots by building the runtime framework and healthcare industrial workflows, showcasing the power of NVIDIA's technology. • Collaborate across team boundaries to integrate NVIDIA robotics products such as Jetson Thor, Isaac GR00T, Holoscan, and Isaac Sim/Lab into the solution for robots. • Take on a variety of challenges, bridging between research and commercial environments. • Deploy and test the developed software on real robots.
• Implement AI/ML models for target detection, collision avoidance and automation control • Control robotics systems with computer vision, 3d camera, machine learning, etc • Develop automation software systems with smart, scalable, and testable code • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional partners to understand requirements and translate them into concrete technical tasks • Work with various sensor modalities (LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, etc.) • Stay up to date with the evolving AI/ML landscape and help improve our tools, infrastructure, and practices based on new developments • Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent) for mechanical modeling and fabrication (3D printing, CNC machining, etc.)
