Tesla Shanghai is currently seeking a Cost Accountant to support the accounting department at Gigafactory Shanghai, Lin Gang. As a Cost Accountant, you will assist the Costing and Inventory team in the following areas: Job Responsibilities 1. Purchase Price Variance Review. Regularly examine the variance between the material purchase prices and standard costs of components at the Shanghai factory. Identify and analyze the reasons for discrepancies, such as changes in market prices, supplier negotiations, or quality differences of materials. Monitor key parts price fluctuations in the market and promptly update the standard costs in the ERP system to ensure accurate cost accounting and reflect the actual cost situation. 2. Rebate and Compensation Tracking. Collaborate closely with the purchasing department to track the status of vendor rebates and compensation. Establish effective communication channels to ensure timely updates on rebate and compensation claims. Verify the accuracy of rebate amounts and compensation claims based on contracts and agreements. Ensure all eligible rebates and compensations are properly recorded and reflected in the financial statements. 3. Component Cost Update. Conduct a comprehensive review and update of the component costs for the Shanghai factory on a quarterly basis based on the cost drivers. Analyze the cost trends and variances compared to the previous quarters and the budget. Collaborate with the production and procurement departments to gather accurate and up-to-date cost information. Update the cost database and relevant financial systems to reflect the new cost structure. Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate the cost updates to the management and other stakeholders, highlighting any significant cost changes and their potential impact on the business. 4. Financial Closing. Upload accounting adjustment journals based on US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and CAS (Chinese Accounting Standards) to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting. Reconcile financial results across different accounting periods and segments, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or anomalies. Work closely with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate completion of the financial closing process, including the preparation of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and income statement analysis. Provide insights and explanations for significant financial variances and support the finance leadership in making informed decisions based on the financial data. 5. Other Ad Hoc Tasks Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned by the management. This may include special financial projects, data analysis for strategic decision-making, support for internal and external audits, or participation in cross-functional teams to address specific business challenges or opportunities. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in handling diverse tasks and contribute to the overall financial and operational success of the company.
