THE ROLE We are hiring test engineers for our Reliability and Test team. We are interested in candidates with all levels of experience, but will prioritize strong problem solvers and communicators that drive projects independently. RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop and implement test programs for electric vehicle powertrain technologies. • Interface with design, reliability, material scientists, quality, and service to identify failure modes and create design validation test plans. • Collaborate with test technicians as peers to achieve test objectives. • Design and fabricate test equipment for mechanical, thermal, and electrical systems. • Perform component, system, and vehicle validation by simulating realistic and accelerated dynamic and environmental conditions. • Identify and execute DOEs targeting new technologies or critical failures. • Investigate device failures to drive product development and test improvement. • Interface with and simulate complex vehicular systems to validate firmware/hardware interactions. • Create novel ways to apply skills learned in the test lab to benefit the company and our products.

THE ROLE: As a cell test engineer, you will join a core technology team tasked with developing cutting edge techniques for investigating the physical and chemical degradation mechanisms in all cell chemistries used in Tesla products. This engineer’s primary role will be to develop and execute targeted test plans that evaluate and qualify novel cell designs from Tesla’s cell vendors. The ideal candidate will exhibit outstanding attention to detail, possess strong organization skills, and be motivated to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. RESPONSIBILITIES: Execution and maintenance of lithium ion cell performance tests using common cell cycling equipment, temperature/humidity chambers and recirculating chillers. Write test plans, propose design of experiments and summarize results in test reports. Use test data to optimize cell lifetime by specifying system level usage parameters such as charge algorithms, storage temperatures, cycle temperatures, etc. Coordinate cell level destructive physical analysis and other analytical techniques to analyze mechanisms of energy and power loss in cells. Be a member of a cross functional product development team to help determine the ideal cell chemistry and design for Tesla’s applications.

THE ROLE This is a full-time position which requires someone who is highly organized, confident in their high-performance driving ability, objectively focused when making judgements, and poised in managing dynamic projects amongst a fluid schedule. The role is based in Lingang, Shanghai but also requires flexibility in traveling to various domestic & international destinations for vehicle testing on public roads, tracks, and proving grounds. Working Location: Shanghai is the preferred location, with additional flexible opportunities available in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Chongqing, and Wuhan. etc. RESPONSIBILITIES • Generate new test strategies to evaluate active safety driving • Perform controlled vehicle testing across global proving grounds using precision instrumentation, robotic platforms, and other test equipment • Develop test fixtures and software tooling for efficient data collection, analysis, and reporting • Use in-house simulation infrastructure to expand test coverage • Analyze issues found during testing, partnering closely with developers on the Tesla AI and Vehicle Firmware teams to formulate judgement criteria, implement resolutions, and validate software changes • Perform testing for existing and upcoming regulatory and ratings protocols, working with external agencies to make sure requirements are being satisifed • Maintain test vehicles, coordinate logistics, perform repairs & retrofits, and support additional vehicle testing as needed
