- Responsible for developing the quality plan, infrastructure and its implementation for new projects by working closely with Apple multi-functional teams and the suppliers. - Support for NPI build activities and also support in MP. - Applies quality and reliability concepts during our products development phase as well as in the mass production to put in place quality controls in the manufacturing process. - Thoroughly understands the design and manufacturing process as well as capabilities of various manufacturing processes used and designs appropriate testing/controls to guarantee output quality. - Works with equipment vendors to design metrology (measurement inspection) equipment, approves DFMs and applies metrology concepts in qualification and validation of equipment. - Uses statistical tools to make everyday decisions such as sample size calculations, distribution analysis, process capability, etc and move the program forward. - Closely collaborates with the multi-functional team in the product development phase to assess product risks and paths to mitigate them. - Participates in the development and implementation of Product Quality Plan (PQP). - Develops specific quality programs during development and qualification stages. - Reviews product design to ensure quality objectives are met. - Closely work with suppliers to meet the quality expectations. - Collaborate with the suppliers and Apple multi-functional team to help set up the IQC, IPQC, OQC and ORT processes for key parts. - Establishes discovery audit procedures and ensures performance to standards by Apple test personnel.
Thermal Module Quality Engineers will be fearless leaders capable of working with multi-functional teams to identify risks, explore solutions, reach consensus and implement mitigations as quickly and efficiently as possible. You will evaluate dimensional, functional, and cosmetic challenges through statistical analyses to make data-driven decisions as well as: - Drive quality readiness at the factory for development builds and mass production. Drive all quality issues in development builds to timely closure. - Collaborate with design, engineering teams to set appropriate quality control/Inspection/metrology stations on the production line. Drive IQC, IPQC, OQC and ORT - Drive qualification efforts in a wide variety of areas such as metrology, function inspection, cosmetic during module assembly. - Perform failure analysis to understand thermal failure modes and implement preventive measures. - Lead quality related functions for a program and serve as a project manager to push efforts at supplier locations. - Write, assess, and audit validation tests both internally and at the vendors. - Drive vendor process performance improvements through objective measurements using yield gap analysis. - Drive inspection optimization
Position Quality Leader for Protection Relay – Digital Power LoB – CS&Q Team in China About the Position For our Digital Power Line of Business, CS&Q team in China, we are looking for a new quality leader, who will drive the end‑to‑end quality strategy and execution for our Protection Relay offers (ARC Flash Protection). As the quality leader embedded in the agile product squad, you will ensure that quality is built in, not inspected in; representing voice‑of‑customer, deploying design and process quality, sharing hardware & firmware quality practices, and deploying prevention mechanisms. You will also own the offer quality performance for in‑market products, coordinating with manufacturing plants, suppliers and other internal & external stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer experience. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Built-in Project Quality – New Product Development • Ensure built-in quality through Agile Execution Model and Offer Lifecycle Management (OLM). • Define and lead the Quality Action Plan across agile increments. • Deploy and coach teams on Design for Safety & Reliability, Software Quality Fundamentals for hardware and firmware team. • Drive reliability planning (targets, budgets), robustness design reviews, and validation strategies (HALT/HASS, accelerated life testing, EMC/thermal stress). • Partner with design team to align Critical-to-Quality (CTQs) with design and validation plans. • Represent customer perspective (Voice of Customer) in design decisions and risk reviews. End-to-End Offer Quality – Existing Products • Own global offer quality performance; set annual targets and improvement initiatives. • Consolidate quality data (manufacturing, supplier, field) and lead Issue-to-Resolution (I2R) and Problem-to-Prevention (P2P) activities. • Conduct customer risk analysis for non-conformities; decide and execute stop delivery and derogations when needed. • Manage customer-facing communications for quality issues, offer evolution, and withdrawals. • Establish and run surveillance plans (field data, IoT feedback, reliability dashboards); monitor and act on results. • Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned integration into future designs. • Authority to escalate business risks and convene cross-functional reviews for urgent issues. As a member of the Firmware Integration team, you will be responsible for delivering high quality firmware, software, and hardware to the manufacturing line. You will architect the software solutions for manufacturing quality Energy products (e.g. Powerwall, Megapack) in our factories. Rethink manufacturing processes and test equipment dependency with our in-house product and design teams. Engineer a software stack capable of ultra-high volume production capacity across our entire supply chain. Ensure flexibility within our product design and manufacturing test functionality to achieve critical business objectives. Responsibilities： · Develop, enhance and debug new and existing software in C, Python, or Golang. · Perform hardware and firmware integration of current and next generation Tesla charging systems. · Author product test specification of home and commercial charging products for optimal coverage at each step in the assembly process. · Design robust and exhaustive test procedures for high voltage power electronics, battery modules, thermal systems, and solar product assemblies. · Contribute to software architecture design, development of software applications, and integration into manufacturing processes and production lines. · Track and communicate project status and risks to the wider organization. Interact with engineers from multiple teams. · Hands-on with hardware bring up, debug issues and devise solution paths. · Provide technical and leadership excellence for the team. You will make critical decisions and lead from the front with support from experienced engineers. · The position duties may require travel to Tesla and/or supplier factories.
• Build test methodology, infrastructure and flow to ensure board/tray/rack/cluster level alignment to manufacture specifications that affect yield , cost, performance, reliability&stability, thermal and power. • Craft test strategies for new features, including specifications and validation of test equipment and diagnostic software to bridge gaps between product design targets and manufacturing testability. • Create processes that improves quality/coverage key KPIs (DPPM, failure rate trends, etc) in our production screen flows. • Perform or automate test runs, analyze and visualize data to ensure a high-quality test, and guide debug for yield or escape issues. • Partner with test engineering and operations teams to implementing efficient manufacturable test solutions.
